When your guests travel all the way to Italy to celebrate your love, why not welcome them with something truly unforgettable? A welcome event inspired by Italian markets is the perfect way to begin your destination wedding weekend — relaxed, authentic, and full of local charm.
This June, we hosted a beautiful Italian market–themed welcome dinner at La Pescaia Resort, in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. The event took place at the stables, a rustic and atmospheric setting that offered the ideal backdrop for an evening under the trees and twinkling string lights.
The Charm of an Italian Market Experience
Italian markets are all about connection — people gathering, tasting, chatting, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Recreating that atmosphere as a wedding welcome party sets the tone for a joyful and authentic weekend.
Each guest received their own basket, ready to fill and take home with local treasures: olive oil, handmade soaps, limoncello, honey, and other artisanal Tuscan products.
And to eat? Freshly baked pizza, shared and enjoyed together, while the air filled with the scent of rosemary and warm bread.
Imagine guests wandering through little stalls offering local cheeses, olive oils, honey, handmade ceramics, and artisanal products from the region. A corner with a live mozzarella station, a wine tasting area, or even a fresh pasta demonstration adds a touch of entertainment and authenticity.
Why It’s the Perfect Start to a Destination Wedding
A welcome event like this helps your guests feel immediately immersed in the Italian lifestyle. It’s informal but elegant, giving everyone the chance to mingle, reconnect, and enjoy the best of local culture before the big day.
It’s also a wonderful way to showcase the beauty of your chosen venue — places like La Pescaia Resort, with its rustic charm and natural scenery, are ideal for this kind of outdoor celebration.
A Celebration of Togetherness
More than just a pre-wedding party, this Italian market–inspired evening was a celebration of community, authenticity, and togetherness. Surrounded by laughter, aromas, and the warmth of Italian hospitality, guests experienced a moment they’ll carry with them long after the wedding weekend ended.
